Peter Ogden, ASGARD HEAD (PLACES WILDERNESS 2025)
At Christmas, I ventured to the far side of the Blue Mountains, not far from Oberon, for three nights in a field just over 1,000m above sea level - just me, large mobs of kangaroos, kaleidoscopes of butterflies and heaps of peace and quiet. I used the location as a base to tick off a bucket list hike – to Asgard Head. The overgrown ‘track’ led to a view that more than lived up to the hype. They say sometimes you must get lost to find yourself…in this majestic landscape it’s very easy to find whatever you need to keep on going.
