Scott Bartley, Enjoying the awesome views from Mt Tomuroushi (PEOPLE WILDERNESS 2025)

This photo captures the energy and excitement one feels upon reaching a grand peak in the middle of a multiday wilderness hike. The peak is Mt Tomuroushi on the Daisetsuzan Grand Traverse, Hokkaido. In the background are the peaks conquered during the preceding three days of our hike. Foremost among them is the 'Big O', Mt Oputateshike, standing tall at 2012m.
