Robert Wengritzky, Fire and Ice (PLACES WILDERNESS 2025)

A lone snow-covered tree reaches into the sky, its frozen branches catching the last warmth of sunset. Icicles drip like glass, glowing against a horizon of fire. In this moment, the extremes of alpine life meet: the silence of ice and the blaze of light. The tree, stripped and weathered, stands resilient — a sculpture of survival caught between winter’s grasp and the fleeting burn of day’s end.
