Anne Sanderson, Not far from the crowds (PLACES WILDERNESS 2025)

People flock to Russell Falls in Mt Field National Park in Tasmania, but a lesser number climb the steps to Horseshoe Falls. On this visit, I had Horseshoe Falls to myself and could bask in the beauty and serenity of the falls. I watched the light change, and the colours subtly lighten and darken and listened to the water dropping into the pool below. Sometimes nature, in all her beauty, is not far from the crowds.
