Hannah Katz, Other Side of the Storm (PEOPLE WILDERNESS 2025)
Cross country skiing from Guthega Dam to Twynam, in the NSW Snowy Mountains we had pushed on through a storm, hopeful it was clearing. The higher we skied the more the storm eased off, till even the flurries pouring over the top of Twynam disappeared. The was air crispy and snow crackled along the ridge line. And then at the top it was as still as I have ever experienced. Not even our hearts raced. Just pristine clean light, a freshness and contentment.
