david cowles, Point Ellen Vista Kangaroo Island (PLACES WILDERNESS 2025)

On the Great Southern Ocean south side of Kangaroo Island there are many pristine and untouched clear blue water bays and white sandy beaches. Vivonne Bay is one of the best. It has a large jetty to access the ocean with sweeping bay and a low rocky headland called Point Ellen. From this rocky outcrop looking North East past the small Lighthouse / beacon towards the top left hand side of the image you look towards the headland that protects the famous Seal Bay conservation park where you can get really up close and personal with the seals with the ranger's guidance. Also close by is the finish point "Tea Tree Camp" and "Kelly Caves" of the one of Australia's Great walks. The 5 day 60 Km Kangaroo Island Wilderness Trail. Now reopened after a devastating fire. The whole of Kangaroo Island has so much to explore and enjoy for walkers , Birder, Artists and photographers. The North side bay and beaches are very different to the South and then there are the world famous "Remarkable Rock" formations at the western end . Kangaroo Island must be on everyone's bucket list .It is a must see. The best kept secret in South Australia if not Australia. Untouched clear pristine waters so much to see & discover.
