Sammy Zammit, Wind in the Wilderness (PEOPLE WILDERNESS 2026)
I sat with my camera as the sun was going down on the summit of Mt Kosciuszko, waiting patiently for the wind to pick up, enough so that snowkiter Agata Dobrzynska could launch her kite. It was getting dark, and I was freezing. We'd been out all day shooting footage for her film, Aussie 10, documenting her expedition to summit the 10 highest peaks in Australia by snowkite, and we were at the top of Kosci to get the final shot for the film. The wind finally picked up, and as I watched her launch her kite, I couldn't help but swap the settings on my camera to shoot stills as she made her way up the summit ridge. Everything lined up: the colour, the texture, the composition, and the feeling of exploration this landscape inspires as your eye travels through the frame, giving a taste of the adventure that Aggie had embarked on. It was a stunning way to finish the day.
